Wondering where is one of the most desirable places in the world to live & work?
30 minutes from work to play! Many of our staff at Vancouver Coastal Health love to head up to our easily accessible local mountains to enjoy snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding – or just to take in the beautiful views. Pictured, one of Vancouver’s premier mountains, Grouse Mountain, is a popular attraction all year round. The mountain offers a variety of cultural, education and outdoor activities – especially for those winter sport enthusiasts! Did you know Grouse Mountain was named by the first recorded hikers to reach the summit in October 1894? The hikers named the Peak “Grouse Mountain” after a Blue Grouse bird. Back then the hike was a 3 or 4 day journey of climbing through snow, over rocks and through the forest. Today, Grouse Mountain has a gondola that brings you to the Peak of the mountain in a matter of minutes. With the weekend almost here, the North Shore Mountains are a great choice for those looking for a snowy filled adventure! .
